Over the last two years, children and adolescents with Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis and their care providers at a few leading institutions have been working together in a fresh, innovative program that uses new tools and a new approach to treat these inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Already this program has significantly improved both the quality of care these children receive and, more importantly, their health.
If you are a patient, a parent, or a health care provider, we ask you to join us in this exciting new venture.
Model IBD Care Guideline
![]() |
Originally known as the PIBDNet Trailblazer Improvement Collaborative, Improve Care Now is an alliance of health care professionals and patients that has developed a Model IBD Care Guideline based on the carefully analyzed results of thousands of doctor–patient visits as well as the latest studies and treatments from around the world. Doctors and patients apply this information, experiences are tracked and studied, the results are shared openly and further refinements are made to the guidelines to continually improve care for all patients.
It sounds simple – and it is. But until now, it was very difficult to share information and provide benchmarks to improve everyone’s care.
Measureable Results
Now, thanks to technology advances and this innovative alliance, it is possible. Preliminary results demonstrate that participating patients are receiving better care and there is a substantial increase in the percentage of patients in remission. In fact, the American Board of Pediatrics now encourages all pediatric gastroenterologists to join the Improve Care Now program.
The first step? Make sure that your medical care facility is participating in Improve Care Now. Check out the information on this web site to learn how you can help yourself while joining and supporting this program.
