Hello! My name is Henry, and I am a 14 year old freshman in high school. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was nine. Most people don't know that I was born in NYC but moved to Charlotte, NC when I was six months old.
My greatest concern with Crohn's is how many flares I have. I want to get to the point when I don't have multiple flares a year. It doesn't have a huge impact on my life and they are not incredibly severe, but certainly painful and an issue in my life.
I've been on two different medications and both of them have worked pretty considerably well. I'm also eating more healthy and smaller meals. I have learned that I can deal with anything that comes my way. An issue may seem like an insurmountable mountain, but there is always the other side.
I was attracted to the PAC because my diagnosis was very painful and scary to me, only being nine years old and all. I don't want other people...especially kids...to go through what I went through. It would help me feel better about my Crohn's if I could help other people with theirs. It would also be good for me to know I am not alone in this situation. I can help other kids understand that while the pain and flares seem like a big deal, they will be over eventually.
