The ImproveCareNow Collaborative is a program in which pediatric gastroenterologists at 16 practice sites in the US are working together to develop, test and implement quality improvement tools to improve the care and health of over 2,000 children and adolescents with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Since early 2008 the proportion of our Crohn’s disease patients who are in remission has progressively increased from 49% to 64%, and the remission rate of our ulcerative colitis patients is increasing as well.

These data suggest that if all children and adolescents in the US with inflammatory bowel disease were participating in ImproveCareNow, over 10,000 more would be in remission now.  The ImproveCareNow Collaborative is supported by the American Board of Pediatrics, the Alliance for Pediatric Quality, the Centers for Education and Research in Therapeutics of the US Agency for Health Care Quality and Research, and participating institutions. Health care organizations, physicians, patients, families and friends can play a vital role in expanding ImproveCareNow so many more children and adolescents with IBD can participate in the ImproveCareNow Collaborative.
