In July 2013 ImproveCareNow began collaborating with adult gastroenterologists on a 1-year pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of a Quality Improvement (QI) network involving centers caring for adult patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The project developed following a request by Gil Melmed, MD of Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, CA and Corey Siegel, MD of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH for ImproveCareNow to provide guidance, training and tools.  Drs. Siegel and Melmed appreciate the potential advantages in learning from the experience of the ImproveCareNow Network and ImproveCareNow has expressed a desire to work with them to accelerate their progress.

The core project team includes Drs. Melmed and Siegel, Laura Peterson, BSN, SM (Quality Improvement Consultant), Nicholas Hoppenjans (Project Manager), Melissa Mock (Project Coordinator) and Richard Colletti, MD (ImproveCareNow Network Director). There is currently a cohort of six adult GI centers participating.

Financial support for the project comes from the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).
