My name is Mira, I am a 15 year high school freshman. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 11. An interesting thing most people don’t know about me is that I’ve been to 25 countries.
One of my greatest struggles of living with a chronic illness has been feeling isolated and alone for a really long time...until just recently. When I finally built up the courage to tell (and trust) my friends about my diagnosis, I don’t think it affected them that much, they were just surprised to find out what I was going through. For me, living with IBD is definitely a struggle but it really does make me a stronger person.
In just the past week I’ve met so many other people like me, it is really comforting to know that I’m not alone. Throughout my partnership with the PAC and ICN, I want to spread awareness about IBD, help newly diagnosed patients and let other patients like me know that they aren’t alone.
