Dietary interventions, nutritional drinks, tube feeding, TPN, special or therapeutic diets – there are many ways to address nutrition as part of an IBD care plan. This is Maddie’s experience:

Living with IBD can make a healthy relationship with food challenging. Over the course of my journey with Crohn's, I've had to learn and relearn what I am allowed to put into my body.

From tube feeds to dietary restrictions, I've had rules about what I can or cannot eat prescribed to me at really vulnerable times in my life. I am a strong believer in facilitating open conversations about the impacts treatments have on a patient's relationship with food.

My relationship with my body and with food is one that I am still working on. I hope that being honest about my own experiences can help others feel safe to name and live with their own stories.

PAC Moments is a series of short stories originally shared by members of the Patient Advisory Council on their social media channels. They are being re-shared on LOOP as a way to reach more people and raise more awareness of IBD. We hope you'll share these with others and ask them to take a moment to read + learn more about #LifeWithIBD 💚💙
