Follow the steps below to complete an application and submit your research proposal:

1) Determine if the Outcomes Database has the data available to answer your research question(s)

  • If your research includes a survey and you need help with recruitment, ICN’s Communications team can share your survey using ICN’s various communication channels, depending on your IRB approval. Once your study is approved, you will be connected to the team.

2) Review the ICN policies regarding data sharing and authorship

3) Review the ICN Research Change Package developed by ICN Community members. It shares best practices on all phases of research, including legal and IRB approval, recruitment, communications and other key topics.

4) Review examples of research proposals:

  • Click here for an example of a Retrospective Data Analysis Study
  • Email [email protected] for an example of a Cross-sectional Qualitative/Quantitative/Survey Study

5) Fill out the Research Proposal Request Form on REDCap. Once you have submitted the form, you will be able to save a PDF copy of your answers.

  • In the REDCap form, you will be asked to upload the following:
    • Bio-sketch: If you don't have a biosketch, see the NIH biosketch resource here.
    • Signed Data Sharing Expectations Form. Please note that the ICN Network requires all study investigators to write an ICN 'Research Explained' LOOP blog post once their study is complete as part of the ICN Research Committee process.

The Research Committee meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month so we ask for at least 2 weeks before the meeting to review proposals.

If you would like more information or have any questions on this process, please contact [email protected].
