Racial inequity is a public health crisis. Every person deserves culturally sensitive and competent health care. ImproveCareNow believes that every patient and caregiver should get what they need when they need it.

We must do better together.

The recent deaths of Black citizens (George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor) and stories shared through the Black Lives Matter movement are catalysts. They shine a spotlight on the critical importance of partnering with the Black members of our community to identify racial gaps in care, examine our own implicit biases, and engage more people of color in our work.

We must move forward together. We know that words are not enough.

This absolutely cannot be a one-time response to current events. Meaningful and lasting change requires ongoing efforts to address diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the ICN community. This work will evolve and grow as we move forward together.

We pledge to:

  1. Open a dialogue to identify and address racial gaps in healthcare;
  2. Educate ImproveCareNow members about racial inequity and implicit bias;
  3. Require all ImproveCareNow staff and leaders to complete racial sensitivity training.

We look forward to doing better together with you.
