ImproveCareNow Community Engagement Learning Series (CELS) trainings were designed by patients, parents, clinicians, and ImproveCareNow staff to share best practices and new skills. Whether you are just getting started or have an established team, you will get something out of these trainings. Each session presents new skills, and provides a chance to work with others to plan how to implement what you learned at your center. Each CELS training is designed to empower you to connect more patients and parents to your team, to build relationships, develop leaders, and share information that improves lives.
Over the past several months I have had the opportunity to work with a dedicated team to create one of these training tools, called Best Practices for Volunteer Recruitment. Our goal was to provide a step-by-step guide for identifying potential parent and patient volunteers at local care centers and inviting them to join, as well as harnessing their unique skills and interests to build a stronger community! The process itself was a critical learning experience - it was fantastic to hear more from Care Center Staff, parents, and patients about how our ICN staff team can improve in the Engagement Tools and resources we offer you. I couldn’t be more grateful for the hard work and wisdom that our team brought to the table! - Michelle, Engagement Coordinator & Staff Liaison to PAC and PWG
Since December 2016, I have been working as a co-lead of the Patient Advisory Council Recruitment Task Force, onboarding patients into the PAC so I've had a lot of experience in this area. It's really important to know how to best recruit people and bring them into groups, because, as I always say, without recruitment, there is no group at all! - Becky, Patient Advisory Council
My goal for being a part of Best Practices for Volunteer Recruitment is to work with all ICN care centers and parents; to help onboard parents to the Parent Working Group. Most of all, I want to help all parents realize their potential to improve health and care for all our children who suffer with IBD. - Deb, Parent Working Group
