Sleep disturbance, pain, anxiety, depression and fatigue are prevalent in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); pain and fatigue are two of the most common symptoms reported by both AYAs with active IBD and those in remission. Symptoms often present in co-occurring groups, known as symptom profiles. Identification of symptom profiles can inform targeted symptom management strategies and improve quality of life; however, symptom profiles have yet to be examined in AYAs with IBD.
