The ImproveCareNow Board of Directors has announced that Howard Baron, MD, a member and Secretary-Treasurer of the Board, has accepted the additional, newly created position of Transition Director. Dr. Baron will serve for one year, during the transition of a new ImproveCareNow Clinical Director and an ImproveCareNow Executive Director.
With the appointment and on-boarding of a new Clinical Director and an Executive Director, ImproveCareNow is entering into an important transition phase. Dr. Baron, in his role as Transition Director, will provide oversight of financial, legal and regulatory compliance affairs, and serve as a liaison between the Board and the Clinical, Executive and Scientific Directors, to ensure a smooth transition so the Board can continue to meet its fiduciary responsibilities.

Dr. Baron is a pediatric gastroenterologist in private practice in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he has lived since 1993. He completed his undergraduate medical school, pediatric residency and chief residency at the University of Minnesota, and fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at UCLA. Dr. Baron, who holds a faculty appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine, previously served as Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Sunrise Hospital and Sunrise Children’s Hospital, President of the Clark County Medical Society, President of the Nevada State Medical Association and was recently appointed by the Governor of Nevada to the Patient Protection Commission. The practice manager for his four-physician group, Dr. Baron also has extensive fundraising experience for non-profit organizations. He is author or co-author of over 30 published manuscripts and textbook chapters and has been a principle investigator in several clinical trials. Howard has been his practice’s Physician Leader in ImproveCareNow since 2008 and a member of the Board of Directors since 2010.
