The ImproveCareNow Board of Directors has announced that Becky Johnson Rescola has accepted the position of Executive Director of ImproveCareNow. Becky will begin her new position on June 2, 2025 and will be working closely with current ImproveCareNow Executive Director, Kristin Howe, as she prepares to step down by July.

The Board of Directors is grateful to Search Committee Co-Chairs Dr. Karen Murray and Dr. John Barnard, as well as the entire search committee and representatives from our stakeholder groups who participated in our search for a new Executive Director. Becky Johnson Rescola brings a breadth of leadership experience to ImproveCareNow from her work in state and national health institutions. She understands and thrives in complex organizations and has been a catalyst for innovation and resource development throughout her career. Her passion for improving the lives of children and adults with IBD as an executive with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation makes her "one of us" already. Becky currently serves as Senior Vice President of Education and Community Engagement at the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. Throughout her 15-year tenure with the Foundation, she has led community-based patient and professional education, patient/caregiver support groups, healthcare professional engagement, community-based equity programs, and Camp Oasis. She has worked with many institutions, clinical professionals, and families across the pediatric IBD community throughout her career.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Becky worked in both nonprofit and public sector maternal and child health, including the March of Dimes and the Ohio Department of Health. Her work with those organizations included partnering with the Ohio Perinatal Quality Collaborative, administering Ohio's childhood lead poisoning prevention registry, and implementing a statewide electronic certification system for Ohio's Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

Becky has a Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Iowa State University. She has completed 5 marathons including two World Majors. Becky currently lives in greater Cleveland (Ohio) with her husband and two cats. She has a son graduating from college this spring and a daughter who is just finishing her first year.

In her role as ImproveCareNow Executive Director, Becky will be responsible for the development of the strategic direction of the Network. As a key member of the ImproveCareNow leadership team, she will work in concert with the Clinical and Scientific Directors to provide overall strategic leadership to plan, develop and direct ImproveCareNow’s continuous learning health system to achieve breakthrough performance on the network’s goals for better health, and more engaged community and faster, more meaningful research for children and families living with IBD.

Becky will report directly to the ImproveCareNow Board of Directors and will work closely with the Project Management team to facilitate a smooth transition and the continued momentum of ImproveCareNow.
