Hi! My name is Nimishii and I'm a rising senior in high school. I was diagnosed with IBD at 13 and somewhere in the middle of the flares, the food restrictions, and the endless Googling of “what can I eat?” I discovered my passion for understanding inflammation and nutrition science.

Since being diagnosed, I’ve put a lot of energy into making sense of my own body, understanding the relationship between my diet and inflammation, and figuring out what to put in my grocery cart. What started as essentially a personal research project, turned into a platform; I co-founded an app that uses established nutrition research to evaluate foods through an inflammatory lens, suggests alternatives, and helps users track trigger foods over time. I hope IBD patients can use it as a bridge between what they learn about diet and IBD in the clinic and what happens at home in the kitchen.

Some of my other pursuits include karate and spreading my love for martial arts as a nationally decorated black belt; creative hobbies like calligraphy and photography (I always have my digital camera on me); and volunteering either for youth, policy, or environmental initiatives.

I’m excited to be connected with the PAC and ImproveCareNow. I appreciate their focus on closing the loop between what clinicians know and what patients experience, because bringing these two perspectives together is how true change is made.
