The ImproveCareNow Board of Directors has announced that Jonathan Moses, MD has accepted the position of Medical Director of ImproveCareNow (formerly known as Clinical Director). Jon will transition into this new position and will be working closely with current ImproveCareNow Clinical Director, Shehzad Saeed, as he prepares to step down.

ICN Incoming Medical Director, Jonathan Moses, MD
Jon will be a great Medical Director for ICN. He exemplifies our ICN motto of "all teach and all learn." Â He started at the beginning, in the Foundations Learning Lab, learning how to put together an ICN team, learning Quality Improvement (QI) principles, and how to apply them in his own clinic. As he mastered those basic elements, he became a leader in that learning lab and began to teach others. He did that also in the Remission Learning Lab, first learning and then teaching, and also in the Clinical Standardization/Personalized Care Learning Lab. All along he has first been a learner and then a teacher. This background gives him unique insight into what care center teams, at various levels, experience and how he can help them mature in their QI processes. This, in turn, will lead to improved patient care and improved patient outcomes.
We welcome Jon to the ICN leadership team and look forward to working with him to improve care now.
- John Grunow, MD, Chair, Board of Directors, ImproveCareNow, Inc.
Dr. Jon Moses is the Endowed Medical Director for Pediatric IBD in the Center for Pediatric IBD and Celiac Disease at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Jon joined ImproveCareNow (ICN) in 2014 as the physician leader at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. He built a program at Rainbow Babies that continues to be a successful and important network contributor today before moving to Stanford in 2023, where he currently serves as the center’s physician lead. Jon started in the Pathway to Mastery as a participant in the Foundations Pathway, and since then has been both a participant and leader in all three of ICN’s Pathway to Mastery Learning Labs. He currently co-leads the Clinical Standardization/Personalized Care (CSPC) Learning Lab.
Throughout his time in ICN, Jon has demonstrated a deep knowledge of quality improvement strategies, a strong connection to care centers, and a commitment to engagement. These qualities will be integral to his success as ICN Medical Director.
On a fun note, Jon has played in multiple bands over the years, including a 90’s grunge rock cover band, a blues band, and a Dave Matthews cover band, to name a few. He is always on the lookout for someone to jam with in his free time.
It is an honor and a privilege to be stepping into the role of Medical Director for ImproveCareNow. My time in the Network over the last 10 years has been essential in both my professional growth and my personal growth as an IBD physician, and in that growth I have been able to contribute back to ICN. The list of those who have supported my career development through ICN over the years is quite extensive and it is truly the strength of this community that makes ICN so unique. Stepping into the role after Shehzad Saeed is a monumental task but it is that same sense of community that gives me the confidence to look to the future with optimism and excitement. I hope I have the chance to get to know each and every one of you, as the centers are the true heartbeat of the Network.
-Â Jon Moses, MD, incoming ImproveCareNow Medical Director, ImproveCareNow
In his role as Medical Director, Jon will provide clinical leadership to plan, develop, and direct ICN’s continuous learning system to achieve breakthrough performance on the network’s goals for better health, a more engaged community and faster, more meaningful research for children and families living with IBD. Jon will be responsible for building and developing ICN’s network of care centers and ensuring that they are actively engaged in quality improvement (QI), community building, patient and family engagement, and patient-oriented research in pediatric Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He will also provide leadership for building and maintaining relationships with care center leadership, strategic partners, and other organizations.
I am delighted to welcome Dr. Jonathan Moses as ImproveCareNow’s next Medical Director. Jon brings the experience, humility, curiosity, and deep commitment to collaboration that this role requires. He understands that ImproveCareNow’s strength has always come from its community—patients, parents, clinicians, researchers, improvers, and partners learning together with purpose. As I step away from this role, I do so with profound gratitude for all we have built together and with great hope for the future Jon will help shape along with our Executive Director/President, Becky Johnson Rescola and Board. I am confident that under his leadership, ImproveCareNow will continue to advance care that is more reliable, equitable, innovative, and centered on the children and families we serve.
— Shehzad Saeed, MD, outgoing Clinical Director, ImproveCareNow
Jon will report to ImproveCareNow’s Executive Director and will work closely with the ICN Project Management team to facilitate a smooth transition and the continued momentum of ImproveCareNow.
